The Maple Ridge Burrards will be facing the Coquitlam Adanacs in a best-of-five Western Lacrosse Association playoff series starting on Aug. 5.
The Burrards will finish second in the league this year, regardless of the outcome of their last game of the year on Tuesday, July 28. The Adanacs will finish third.
The playoff matchups are set. The Victoria Shamrocks have locked up first place and close their season out with a game against the Salmonbellies at Queen’s Park Arena, July 30. They will face their Vancouver Island rivals, Nanaimo Timbermen who will finish in fourth place.
The winners of each WLA best-of-five semi-final series will advance to the league finals, a best-of-seven series to determine the WLA champion. The eventual winner will travel to Ontario to take on the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) champion for the coveted 2026 Mann Cup Canadian Sr. A championship, starting on Sept. 11.
The Burrards have had a great regular season, finishing with 12 wins and five losses. Star forward Marcus Klarich is second in league scoring with 79 points, including a league best 44 assists. Rookie goaltender Jack Kask is already a star – second in the league with 10 wins, and third in both goals against average (7.96) and save percentage (.829).
Ridge won two out of three games against the Adanacs this season, with one win coming in overtime.
Of note, playoff overtime rules are in effect, meaning if a game is tied after regulation time, there will be a five-minute break, followed by a 10 minute sudden victory overtime period. If the game is still tied, there will be an additional five-minute intermission, followed by a ten-minute sudden victory overtime period.
