The Felker wildfire south of Williams Lake sits at 4,217 hectares as of Saturday, Aug. 1.
BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) continues to respond to the blaze with ground crews, local contract crews, heavy equipment operators, fire departments and aviation resources.
It includes 144 firefighters, an incident management team, nine helicopters, 25 pieces of heavy equipment and 16 structure protection personnel.
BCWS said objectives are responder and public safety, and the protection of structures, critical infrastructure and cultural values.
“We have not seen substantial growth on the Felker Wildfire for several days, but it remains Out of Control in status, meaning it could spread beyond the current control lines,” said BCWS.
“We have preliminary containment in place around much of the perimeter, but there are many pockets of unburned fuels within that perimeter and numerous areas of heat that we see from a recent high-level scan.”
Ground crews fighting the fire are mopping up along all accessible flanks while working at the fire perimeter.
Discovered on July 23, the wildfire is still burning out of control with two evacuation alerts and one evacuation order in place.
The evacuation order remains in place from July 23, as do both evacuation alerts issued by the Cariboo Regional District.
