A collision between a mobility scooter and a charter bus has led to the death of a 97-year-old man.
On Sunday, July 26, around 1:30 p.m., Kelowna RCMP were called to assist BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) for a crash on Benvoulin Road, near Rampone Road.
The individual on the scooter, identified as a 97-year-old man, was transported to Kelowna General Hospital with serious injuries and later succumbed to those injuries.
No bus occupants were injured.
“The victim was a 97-year-old male living in Kelowna at the time of the collision,” said Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Steven Lang. “We offer our condolences to the family.”
An RCMP collision reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist with examining and documenting the incident. At this time, criminality and impairment are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The RCMP is continuing to investigate the scene and is asking for anyone who witnessed the scene and hasn’t talked to police or anyone with dashcam footage, to contact the Kelowna RCMP’s General Investigation Section at 250-762-3300 with the file number 2026-47361.
