An arrest has been made in a shooting Tuesday evening, July 21, in Maple Ridge.
A 44-year-old male suspect, who is known to police, was taken into custody on Thursday, July 23, without incident.
At around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, numerous RCMP cruisers and unmarked police vehicles, and countless officers, converged on the Centennial Motel and mobile home park on the south side of Lougheed Highway, in the 21600-block, for what witnesses described as shots fired and ultimately a two-hour stand off.
There police discovered a 32-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Investigators confirmed that the incident stemmed from an altercation between the alleged suspect and the victim, who were known to each other.
The victim remains in hospital in stable condition.
Police say there is no further risk to the public at this time, and the investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Maple Ridge RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.
