Road closure reminder for Game On! event in Maple Ridge

City of Maple Ridge is reminding residents that there will be a road closure downtown in support of a FIFA soccer viewing party.

Haney Place roadway will be closed at 224 Street from, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14.

To access the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and The ACT Arts Centre during these times, the city is asking guests to use the entrances to the underground parking lot which are accessible along Dewdney Trunk Road or along Edge Street.

The Game On! soccer viewing party will take place in Memorial Peace Park and feature France versus Spain.

In the park there will be a massive 20 foot screen set up with full broadcast sound, family activity zones, food trucks and local vendors, pre-game entertainment and halftime programming, and accessible seating options.

Jacob Dryden, lead singer of the local band Quickness, will be performing before and at halftime during the game.

He is described by VanHattan Entertainment as someone with soulful vocals over funk bass, electric piano, and blissful guitar tones.

After this event there will only be two more viewing parties hosted by the city.

On Wednesday, July 15, a viewing party will be held inside The ACT at noon for England versus Argentina.

Then on Sunday, July 19, the final viewing party will be held at noon in the park with the two final teams in the FIFA World Cup tournament yet to be announced.

DJ Big Rich will be performing on July 15, and Stone Poets on July 19.

People can also win great prizes with the city’s Game On Passport.
