Police in Abbotsford seize 12 kilos of drugs and $60K cash

A 36-year-old man has been charged in Abbotsford in relation to the seizure of 12 kilograms of drugs, more than $60,000 in cash, and a handgun.

Sgt. Paul Walker, media officer with the Abbotsford Police Department, said the investigation began in April 2025, after officers spotted a man known to be involved in drug trafficking driving a vehicle while prohibited from doing so.

They pulled over the vehicle and arrested the driver.

“During the arrest, officers located illicit drugs and a handgun in his possession,” Walker said.

He said the department’s drug enforcement unit then launched Project Interruption to investigate the man and his involvement in drug trafficking in Abbotsford.

Walker said officers executed several search warrants, including one at a residence in the 31100 block of Deertrail Drive.

He said the warrants turned up illicit drugs that included carfentanil, cocaine and crystal meth.

Walker said investigators also seized more than $60,000 in Canadian currency, body armour, a firearm and several loaded magazines.

“The quantity of drugs seized, particularly carfentanil – a highly potent synthetic opioid – had the potential to cause significant harm within the community,” he said.

Tyler Missen has now been charged with six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of a firearm contrary to an order, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm, possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammo, and driving while disqualified.

According to the provincial court database, Missen has prior convictions for offences such as theft, driving without a driver’s licence, mischief, break-and-enter, mail theft, identity theft, possession of stolen property, resisting a peace officer, unauthorized use of credit card data, and breaching his court-ordered conditions.
