Motorcycle rider airlifted to hospital after crash in Abbotsford

A motorcycle rider was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after a crash in Abbotsford on Tuesday (June 30).

According to a news release from the Abbotsford Police Department, the collision between a motorcycle and a commercial vehicle occurred at roughly 7:39 p.m. on Sumas Way at Mcclary Ave.

The motorcycle rider was airlifted to hospital, while the driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured and remained on scene to cooperate.

Police say an investigation alongside the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is in its early stages.

The collision closed Sumas Way in both directions between the Highway 1 eastbound on-ramp and Barrons Way.
