Vancouver Canucks select 2 forwards in second round of 2026 NHL Draft

After drafting two players in the first round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Friday, the Vancouver Canucks did the same thing in Round 2 on Saturday morning in Buffalo, New York.

The Canucks held the 33rd and 41st overall selections on day two and were the first team to hit the draft floor, taking six-foot-seven centreman Brooks Rogowski from the OHL’s Oshawa Generals and left-winger Niklas Aaram-Olsen.

Rogowski is an 18-year-old forward from Brighton, Mich. He notched 42 points in 46 games playing for the Generals last season, including 15 goals.

“His skating is good for his size, and he certainly knows how to use his big frame in board battles and to protect the puck,” reads a scouting report from Adam Kimelman of the NHL.

Rogowski was projected to be drafted in the later stages of Round 1, but fell to the Canucks in the second round.

Eight draft picks later, the Canucks hit the podium again in Buffalo and selected left-wing Norwegian Aaram-Olsen.

Aaram-Olsen, 18, comes in at 6-foot-1 and weighs 187 pounds. The natural winger laced up the skates and played for the Örebro HK U20 team overseas, finishing fourth in team scoring with 40 points in 29 games, including 20 goals.

He is a known shooter from the bumper position on the power play and has a hard one-touch shot and one-timer that can find the back of the net. Many scouts see him as a good skater who is fast up and down the ice when tracking the puck.

Aaram-Olsen is committed to playing for Boston University next season.

These selections for the Canucks come after centre Caleb Malhotra and left-wing Adam Novotny were taken third and 24th overall, respectively.

Malhotra, the son of Canucks head coach Manny Malhotra, was the touted No. 1 centreman in the draft.

The Canucks have six more draft picks in the 2026 NHL Draft, including selections in the third (78), fourth (97), fifth (129), and sixth rounds (161, 176, 184).
