Daily soccer match updates and news about the 2026 FIFA World Cup, continuing until July 19.

Australia and Türkiye soccer fans flooded Vancouver for the city’s first-ever FIFA World Cup match on Saturday evening (June 13).

Australian 20-year-old Nestory Irankunda raced down the pitch to open scoring in the 27th minute, netting the historic first World Cup goal ever scored at BC Place Stadium as yellow-clad “Socceroos” celebrated.

Türkiye pushed all night but couldn’t find the back of the net. Against the run of play, Australia scored another goal in the second half to earn three points for the Group D co-lead with the U.S.

On three different pitches in the U.S., Qatar tied Switzerland 1-1 in Group B action in San Francisco, Brazil and Morocco knotted 1-1 in New York, and Scotland topped Haiti 1-0 in Boston.

Sunday, another four matches are on the schedule starting with Germany vs. Curaçao at 10 a.m. (Pacific time), Netherlands vs. Japan at 1 p.m., Ivory Coast vs. Ecuador at 4 p.m. and Sweden vs. Tunisia, 7 p.m.
