Volunteers needed to plant native species along Maple Ridge creek

Alouette River Management Society is looking for volunteers to help with native planting along McKinney Creek.

Volunteers will help restore important riparian habitat by planting native species, and removing invasive Himalayan blackberry, which crowds out local ecosystems.

No experience is needed to volunteer, those interested to bring their energy, sturdy footwear, and a willingness to make a difference.

It’s a great opportunity for people to get their hands dirty, learn about stream-side ecosystems, help improve habitat for salmon and wildlife, and connect with community, while spending time outdoors.

The event will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at Westview Park, 20950 Wicklund Avenue, Maple Ridge.
