In Quebec’s first match on Langley’s pro soccer pitch, they came out tied with their Vancouver Football Club hosts.
In Saturday’s game, at the Stadium at Langley Events Centre, VFC’s Eagles hosted the new Supra du Quebec, both teams walking away with a point each.
VFC opened the scoring for Vancouver in the 81st minute, but Quebec salvaged a point with a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer in the 93rd minute.
According to the Canadian Premier League (CPL) reported that FC Supra suffered, FC Supra didn’t do everything right, but FC Supra showed courage to earn a draw against Vancouver in the May 23 match up.
After snatching victory in stoppage time away at Pacific FC during their first win of the season, FC Supra again tapped into its spirit of determination to score late and secure a positive result.
The single point was important for the Montreal team because after three defeats in four matches, FC Supra needed to get back on track and confirm the good impressions seen at the start of the season; mission accomplished, CPL noted.
Defender Matisse Chrétien once again was the providential goalscorer, tucking away a rebound from a powerful Sean Rea strike following the “last chance” corner at the very end of stoppage time.
Eight minutes earlier, the mood was quite different when Mohammed Amissi finished off a superb pass from Nicolas Mezquida to put Vancouver ahead late. The VFC attacker outpaced Charles Auguste before beating Milli to the ball to open the scoring.
Vancouver FC fully deserved its opening goal, as Martin Nash’s men created the best chances of the match, reported CPL.
Amissi had already hit the crossbar with a powerful strike in the first half. Isak Ssewankambo was only a few centimetres away from beating Milli after receiving a high-quality lofted ball from Elage Bah.
The Montreal goalkeeper, along with Matisse Chretien, was the hero of the evening for the Montreal side. Twice, he saved his team with what CPL called class and authority.
Supra du Quebec joined as the league’s ninth team and made their inaugural debut in the 2026 season. The outcome of Saturday’s game leaves Supra du Quebec fifth in the standings, while VFC is still seventh out of eight.
The next game for the Langley-based pro soccer team is Saturday, May 30. VFC travels to Halifax, going up against Wanderers at noon.
