It’s still unclear why a vehicle crashed into a Langley City shed, and why one person is deceased, but investigators are on scene.
The incident occurred Sunday, May 24, just minutes before 2 a.m.
Langley RCMP, firefighters, and paramedics were all dispatched to the area just sout of 203 Street, where it crosses Grade Crescent and turns up onto 48 Avenue.
They were responding to reports of a single-vehicle collision where the truck crashed into a yard and shed on 48 Avenue, confirmed Langley RCMP’s Sgt. Zynal Sharoom.
“Sadly, despite the rapid response and efforts of first responders, one individual was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Sharoom confirmed.
“The circumstances surrounding the collision are still being examined, and investigators are working to determine the factors involved,” he elaborated, noting the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) was deployed to assist with the investigation.
There’s a Facebook post from the resident who’s yard was the site of the accident.
“So, it’s my house. A truck accelerated up 203rd, blew through the light, up my driveway/garden, caught air, missed my house, smashed through my shed, and wrapped itself around a tree,” she posted. “The driver is deceased and it is an awful situation for everyone. We are ok, The driver is not. It is all very sad.”
RCMP are asking that anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision and witnessed the incident, or who may have dash camera footage, is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file #2026-15907.
