Father’s Day salmon release moving to Maple Ridge’s Allco Park

The Alouette River Management Society (ARMS) is inviting families and community members to its upcoming Father’s Day Fish Release.

The event is taking place on Sunday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Allco Park. This year’s location has been moved from Maple Ridge Park due to the ongoing parking lot closures affecting access. ARMS is thrilled to host the event at Allco Park instead, located right next door to the Allco Fish Hatchery, said spokesperson Sophie Sparrow.

Attendees will have the opportunity to help release approximately 5,000 Chinook salmon fry into the South Alouette River, giving children and families a hands-on connection to local salmon conservation and watershed stewardship. SeaStar Face Painting will be on site offering its services for children participating in the event.

The event is open to all ages and welcomes everyone to come together and celebrate nature, community, and conservation. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the many picnic tables located throughout the park, and explore the surrounding trails on a peaceful nature walk.

“This event is always a special opportunity for families to connect with salmon conservation in a meaningful and memorable way,” said Sparrow. “We are excited to continue the tradition this year in such a beautiful setting alongside the hatchery.”

The Father’s Day Fish Release is free to attend, and no prior experience is necessary. For more information about ARMS and upcoming community events, visit ARMS on Facebook and Instagram.
