Maple Ridge’s CEED Centre hosts annual Children’s Day Festival

The Ceed Centre Society is hosting an upcoming Japanese Canadian cultural event.

The annual Children’s Day Festival will be held on May 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ceed Centre Neighbourhood House, and nearby Beckett Park (11739 223rd St.).

The event will feature the duo NoriNori and Komori offering a Taiko drum performance, and there will also be a chance to tour the Seiko Udoku exhibit – which recalls the lost legacy of the Japanese Canadian farming community in Maple Ridge.

The family oriented event will offer cultural crafts and activities including Japanese calligraphy, Anime mask making, sushi making, rock painting, storytelling, karaoke, and origami.
