Whitecaps score 1st place in MLS with league-leading 22 goals

Vancouver Whitecaps FC beat Sporting Kansas City 3-0 on Friday night (April 17) to maintain their position at the top of the MLS standings.

The home team dominated at BC Place Stadium, where 21,777 fans saw the Caps become the second team in MLS history to score at least 22 goals in the first eight games, joining the 1998 Los Angeles Galaxy.

In his first start, Bruno Caicedo scored his first goal for Whitecaps FC after getting his first assist last match.

Emmanuel Sabbi opened scoring in the 13th minute (assists to Mathías Laborda, Brian White), and German star Thomas Müller netted another in the 28th (assists to Emmanuel Sabbi, Tristan Blackmon).

Sebastian Berhalter almost made it 4-0 in added time in the first half, getting on the end of a White headed cross with a header of his own, but his effort smacked the crossbar.
