The police search for a suspect in a Thursday afternoon stabbing at a townhouse complex in Willowbrook has come to an end with one person in custody.
“A 36-year-old Langley man had been arrested in relation to the stabbing,” said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, of the Langley RCMP.
At approximately 4:05 p.m. on April 16, Langley RCMP received a report of a disturbance in the 6400-block of 199 Street.
Officers from Langley RCMP immediately attended the area and located a 46-year-old man suffering from a serious stab wound in the Logan’s Landing complex.
The victim was immediately transported to a local area hospital for further assessment.
“Out of an abundance of caution the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team has deployed to assist the Langley RCMP with this investigation,” Sharoom said on Thursday.
On scene were Emergency Response Team members with rifles, many regular members, two dog handlers and their dogs, and other police. The ERT team stood down later Thursday while police continued the search.
Mounties announced on Friday afternoon that an arrest had been made.
Sharoom said the victim is in critical condition, but the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
“This arrest is the result of strong collaboration between frontline officers and investigators from Langley RCMP’s General Investigation Section and Serious Crimes Unit,” said Supt. Harm Dosange, Officer-in-Charge of the Langley RCMP. “We would like to acknowledge the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team for their assistance. This remains a targeted incident, and there is no ongoing risk to the general. public.”
Even though there has been an arrest, the police would like to hear from anyone with information regarding this incident. They are asked to contact the Langley RCMP at the non-emergency number 604-532-3200 and quote file #2026-11555.
