‘Spectacular crash’ in East Surrey

A single vehicle was involved in a “spectacular crash” in the East Surrey.

On April 13, a car hit a traffic light pole at about 7 p.m.

A Black Press Media freelancer at the scene said the incident occurred at 192nd Street and 54th Avenue in East Cloverdale near the Surrey-Langley border.

Surrey emergency crews “found a spectacular crash scene,” according to the freelancer.

“A northbound Tesla Model X appears to have been travelling at high speed when it lost control, hit a sidewalk bollard, and went airborne across the intersection hitting a traffic signal pole, fencing, landscaping, and finally a lamp standard eventually coming to rest on top of it.”

The freelancer noted the vehicle was torn “wide open” from the force of the collision.

Debris was scattered in several directions for a dozen meters.

“At least one victim was transported to hospital with unknown injuries,” the freelancer added.

The road around the intersection—on 192nd Street—was closed while electrical crews worked on the light poles and police investigated the incident.
