Closures to portions of Highway 1 and 3 remain in effect on Wednesday morning (July 22) due to wildfires near Boston Bar and Manning Park respectively.
Highway 1 is closed for a 41.2-kilometre stretch between Hell’s Gate and Boston Bar
According to Drive BC, the wildfire burning north of Hells Gate is in close proximity to the highway. The new wildfire is south of the Ainslie Creek and Brunswick Creek wildfires.
Meanwhile, Highway 3 is closed between Sunshine Valley and Manning Park due to the 250-hectare Norwegian Creek wildfire.
“Smoke from this fire is burning near Highway 3 in Manning Park, which has resulted in the highway being closed for public safety,” BC Wildfire Service said.
Drivers are advised to use Highway 5 as an alternate route.
