Is Michael Dyck returning to the Vancouver Giants?

There are unconfirmed reports speculating the Langley-based team is about to announce Dyck will be coming back in a dual capacity as their general manager and head coach.

Langley Advance Times has reached out to the Giants for comment.

Dyck was Giants head coach for five seasons between 2018 and 2023, and during his first season with the G-Men he led them to overtime in Game 7 of the WHL Championship Series against Prince Albert.

He’s currently assistant coach with Toronto Marlies, the AHL affiliate of Toronto Maple Leafs and the 2026 American Hockey League Calder Cup Champions

Giants have been without a coach or GM since then-coach Parker Burgess and then-GM Hnat Domenichelli stepped down after after the Giants finished the 2025-26 regular season at the bottom of the WHL western conference, and out of the playoffs with 25 wins in 68 games.

Giants Majority Owner Ron Toigo called it “a difficult season.”

Domenichelli was the fourth general manager in franchise history, named to his job last summer on the same day Parker Burgess became the 10th head coach.

Domenichelli is still with the team in a player personnel capacity.

On Monday, the team announced its preseason schedule for the 2026-27 Western Hockey League season, starting south of the border with a pair of games in Everett on Sept. 4 and 6 for the Silvertips preseason tournament with U.S. Division teams.

Then, Vancouver will host Victoria Royals for back-to-back games on Sept. 12 and 13, the last one taking place at Langley Events Centre at 2 p.m.
