Two men have been deported and a third is facing six drug trafficking charges resulting from a four-month Surrey Police Service investigation dubbed “Project Phantom.”
Staff Sergeant Lindsey Houghton said the SPS’s Prolific Offender Unit launched its investigation in February during which a police raid on a Surrey residence on May 21 led to the three arrests and the seizure of $891,000 in drugs, cash and equipment.
Among items seized includes 15.89 kilograms of opium, 1,529 grams of cannabis, 559 grams of cocaine, 468 grams of fentanyl estimated to be approximately 23,400 lethal doses, 148 grams of methamphetamine, 35 grams of heroin, packaging materials, scales, cookware consistent with drug processing and distribution, and $2,149.90 in Canadian currency.
The three men were released from custody after their arrest. Gurjot Singh, 24, a foreign national, was on June 19 charged with one count of drug trafficking and five counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. He’s since been held in custody pending a court appearance on June 26.
“The other two men initially arrested have not been charged with any offences and have been removed from Canada by Canada Border Services Agency,” Houghton said.
