Public invited to help design new Maple Ridge neighbourhood park

City hall is planning a new park, and wants public input.

The City of Maple Ridge is inviting residents to help shape the vision for a new neighbourhood park at 11375 Burnett St. The six-acre site in the town centre will expand access to outdoor recreation and nature, serving residents within a five-to-seven-minute walk. It will be the city’s second largest neighbourhood park.

Community input will help inform what outdoor amenities are included in the design, which could include trails, a playground, picnic shelters, seating, a dog off-leash area, community garden, and public art. Proposed park amenities will need to be sited to respect the topography and natural conditions, notes the city.

The park site features a mature tree canopy, some areas of steep slopes, and a potential view of the Fraser River.

Residents can complete the city’s online survey and attend an open house.

Complete a brief survey (online or in print) by July 12. Visit Engage.MapleRidge.ca/BurnettStreetPark or request a printed version at 604-463-5221.

The drop-in open house will be held on June 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the future park site, on the west side of the property, across from 11445 and 11455 228 St. City staff will be available to answer questions. As street parking is limited, participants are encouraged to walk or bike to the event if they are able.

After the first phase of community engagement, the project will move through concept design, followed by a second round of engagement in the fall or winter. Detailed design will happen through the spring-summer 2027, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027.

The park is anticipated to open for the public in 2028.
