The City of Maple Ridge wants feedback about the fees it charges developers.
The city is inviting residents, builders, and other community members to learn more about its proposed Amenity Cost Charges (ACCs) program by attending an open house on June 17.
In 2023, the province introduced new development financing tools, including ACCs, which provide municipalities with the authority to help fund growth-related capital costs.
ACCs have been introduced in several Lower Mainland municipalities including New Westminster, Pitt Meadows, Coquitlam, and Mission. In April 2025, the province released the Amenity Cost Charges Best Practices Guide to support consistent and transparent implementation province-wide.
ACC funds can only be used for certain community amenities needed to support a community’s population and employment growth, such as recreation and cultural facilities, libraries, and childcare spaces.
The city currently relies on Development Cost Charges and Community Amenity Contributions to support the cost of growth-related infrastructure and amenities.
To help raise awareness and understanding of the proposed ACC program, proposed rates, and implementation, the city is hosting a public open house, in addition to targeted engagement with industry representatives.
The open house will take place on Wednesday, June 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Fraser Room at the Maple Ridge Public Library. The event is a drop-in format, and no registration is required.
