Executive director of Maple Ridge Museum now with Heritage BC

Shea Henry, the former executive director of the Maple Ridge Museum and Community Archives, is now with Heritage BC.

Henry spent eight years at the museum, six of those years as executive director, taking over from Val Patenaude – who was head of the museum for 27 years – in 2020.

Now Henry is the new executive director of Heritage BC, a member-based, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for the heritage sector across British Columbia.

According to Heritage BC, Henry will be bringing to her new role more than two decades of experience in heritage, public engagement, and community-building across B.C., from her past positions as an archaeologist, historian, archivist, heritage advocate, and not-for-profit leader.

Henry first moved into public education through museums and heritage management with Coquitlam Heritage Society, after teaching and learning in the Archaeology and Indigenous Studies departments at Simon Fraser University.

“Please join us in warmly welcoming Shea to the Heritage BC team. We look forward to the leadership, experience, and deep commitment to community she brings to this next chapter,” said Heritage BC online.
