Three new nature-inspired murals are coming to Maple Ridge.
Students from uPlan, a youth volunteer subcommittee of the Maple Ridge Youth Planning Table, and from Samuel Robertson Technical School, will be paired with seasoned muralists to design and paint the new murals.
The Mural Collective is a collaboration between the City of Maple Ridge and the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association to beautify downtown and inspire creativity in young artists.
Three locations downtown have already been chosen for the public art: the west-facing wall at Root’s Natural Organic Health Foods; the Haney Place Mall wall facing the Greg Moore Youth Centre; and the west-facing wall at Harris & Leib Insurance Brokers.
Muralists Carly Bouwman, Laura Johnson, and Ben Evely will be helping the students with the murals, which will have an interactive component.
The murals are to be completed this summer.
