Maple Ridge lacrosse player part of NCAA championship win

It seems elite Maple Ridge lacrosse talent is everywhere, including on the NCAA champion Princeton Tigers.

Ridge Meadows Burrards alumni Aidan McDonald won the NCAA national championship with Princeton on Monday, May 25, as they beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 16-9 in the final game.

That was the 12th straight win for the Tigers, and the seventh national lacrosse championship in their program’s history. They went 16-1 on the season, and were the top-ranked team heading into the nationals.

McDonald, a sophomore attacker, had eight goals and 11 points in 17 games this season.

McDonald attended Culver Military high school, and helped them to top 10 national rankings for all three years, and served as team captain. He was also a player with Team B.C.

He was the first overall pick in the 2022 BC Junior A Lacrosse League draft, taken by the New Westminster Salmonbellies. Then he was traded to the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs, and won the Minto Cup with them last season. At the Minto Cup, he had four goals and 12 points in six games.
