The Vancouver Rise FC is continuing its losing streak after falling to the Ottawa Rapid FC 4-0 on Wednesday (May 6).
The Rise FC have lost all three of its matches since the season started in late April.
The Rapid FC hosted the Rise FC at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa.
Ottawa’s Kayla Adamek opened up the scoring in the 29th minute after kicking the ball low, which got past Rise FC’s keeper Morgan McAslan.
Ottawa’s D.B. Pridham scored twice and Sadie Waite scored to make it 4-0.
Waite said, “I think that was one of our goals coming into the game, to kind of build up some momentum and a groove going into the next game. So I think we stuck to that, which was really exciting.”
Ottawa held possession 44 per cent of the time and took 9 shots, 5 of which were on goal. Their goaltender, Melissa Dagenais saved Vancouver’s two shots on net.
Ottawa’s head coach Katrine Pedersen said she was proud of her team’s performance during the match.
“Nine goals in two games, clean sheet today. We are forward-minded. When we are playing that way, we have to be aggressive defensively as well, and we were so focused and aggressive with our defence. So I’m proud of that,” Pedersen said.
Vancouver had possession for 56 per cent of the game and took six shots, two of which were on goal. Goaltender Morgan McAslan saved one of Ottawa’s shots on goal.
Several Rise FC players had their firsts during Wednesday night’s match. Recently signed Tori Tumeth had her first start of the season, Jaime Perrault made her Rise FC debut in the 79th minute, and Kennedy Faulknor played after suffering a season-ending injury last fall.
Vancouver’s next match is on Monday (May 18) in Nova Scotia, where they face the Halifax Tides FC at 2 p.m. PT.
Vancouver Rise are part of Canada’s first professional women’s soccer league, the Northern Super League, which debuted in 2025. The other clubs are Calgary Wild FC, Halifax Tides FC, Montréal Roses, Ottawa Rapid FC and AFC Toronto.
