A bear cub rescued from Maple Ridge needs more food, and his preference is a strawberry flavoured nutrition shake.
The Critter Care Wildlife Society offered an update on the cub, noting in an April 30 social media post that he had gained five pounds since being admitted two weeks earlier.
“He has been keeping his caregivers busy by making big messes and eating us out of house and home,” noted Critter Care in the post. “One of his favourite things to eat is strawberry Ensure! Thank you to everyone who helped get him into our care. He is truly a joy to have at our centre.”
The 15-pound male bear cub was rescued in downtown Maple Ridge, after being left alone and crying for days. He was following people, and going onto porches, and got the attention of the Maple Ridge Black Bear Society.

After three days, the Conservation Officer Service gave approval for him to be raised by the non-profit wildlife rescue society that is based in Langley. He arrived there on April 15.
He will be raised to maturity, and re-introduced to the wild.
Critter Care has an online wishlist where donations of the little bear’s preferred meal can be made.
