Divas through the decades and more at Family Fest in Maple Ridge

Get ready for a musical trip through the decades at this year’s free Family Fest at the Ridge Meadows Home Show.

Bonnie Kilroe will be putting on a one-woman show with multiple costume changes, as she takes on the divas from the 1950s and onwards.

Kilroe is described as a musical, comedy genius, portraying some legends with remarkable exactness and parodying others.

Starting with Marilyn Monroe, followed by Nancy Sinatra, Kilroe will be belting out the tunes, dressed to resemble each songstress she takes on.

While still planning out her act, Kilroe is considering doing Tina Turner, Joan Jett, Cyndi Lauper, or Pat Benatar, as she ventures into the 1980s.

Then there is Shania Twain, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry, bringing the audience to the current decade.

One diva Kilroe will definitely be taking on is Cher, a legend in her own right for spanning every decade. She is well known for her authentic take on the icon, and her humour as she brings Cher’s greatest hits to life.

Kilroe, who is sponsored by Cascadia Windows & Doors, will be taking to the main stage at Family Fest for a 45-minute set starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.

Singer/songwriter Miss Shauna will be taking to the Family Fest stage at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 1.

The passionate performer is described as someone who commands a stage, using music and storytelling to uplift, inspire, and connect with audiences.

She first recognized her vocal talent when she was just nine years old, when her mother, a classical pianist, asked Shauna to sing one afternoon.

It was a moment that would spark a lifelong passion for music in the young artist.

Over time, Miss Shauna developed a signature vocal style that blends soulful vocals, rich storytelling, and undeniable stage presence.

Other performers on the free Family Fest stage include: James Buddy Rogers Trio, Curt, the Zany Zoo Puppet Show, West Coast Circus, Tyson and Dakota, Norden the Magician, Dunvegan Dance, and Blue Crane Contortion.

Family Fest runs from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, at the Albion Fairgrounds, 23588 Jim Robson Way, Maple Ridge.
