Maple Ridge’s new bike park celebrates official opening this weekend

The North Shore Bike Park in Maple Ridge is hosting an official grand opening event this weekend, April 25 and 26.

The celebratory opening comes after the new facility at 13065 Katonien St. has already seen six months of high-flying action, and having seen nearly 9,000 visitors.

Throughout the weekend, the community is invited to a grand opening festival featuring BMX legends, local leadership, and high-octane competitions at the 35,000-square-foot indoor all-wheeled sports hub.

Since its soft launch, the park has become a sanctuary for mountain bikers, BMX riders, scooter enthusiasts, skateboarders, and skaters.

“What started as a vision for a world-class indoor riding destination has quickly become a home base for this community,” said the North Shore Bike Park team in a statement.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Highlights include:

• 12 & Under Pump Track Racing: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

• BMX Royalty (Sunday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.): Autograph signings with six-time world champion Jay Miron and technical legend Dave Osato.

• Action and competitions (Saturday noon): Foam-pit and jump-line competitions hosted by Replay Boardshop.

• Official ribbon cutting (Sunday, 1 p.m.): With Mayor Dan Ruimy.

• Awards ceremony and speeches (Sunday, 2 p.m.): Celebrating the riders and partners who make the park possible.

• Accessible Riding: Special entry just $20 (ages 5-plus) or $9.99 (ages 4 and under). Launch of the discounted summer pass.

• The Airbag Upgrade: The “Lil Shredders” zone levels up with a new airbag for safe progression.

The grand opening features an on-site vendor village and displays from industry leaders including the Canadian BMX Hall of Fame, Basic Bikes, Milwaukee, High Velocity Demo Team, Elk Studios (finger bikes), and Replay Boardshop.
