Dear Editor,
[RE: Lessons of COVID lost, March 20, The News]
I must take exception to your opinion that Canadians learned no lessons from COVID.
Lessons we learned:
1. Our democratically elected are quite prepared to lie to us when it suits them. The origins of COVID were hidden. The vaccine was not safe nor effective.
2. Our democratically elected are quite prepared to dictate unsubstantiated rules of conduct, including such things as what one could say, the insistence of mask wearing, intolerance of other opinion, narrowing of acceptable conduct and travel, forbidding other proven medication.
3. Our democratically elected are quite prepared to back up their declarations using the police and the courts to undemocratically enforce their beliefs and opinions.
The lesson our democratically elected should have learned is that their actions have resulted in less respect and more suspicion from the great unwashed who put them in power.
Perhaps the reduced response to the measles vaccine is due to failing respect for those in charge.
