The City of Pitt Meadows announced the provincial funding of almost $1.2 million for flood control infrastructure.
The city received $1,169,000 through the Agriculture Water Infrastructure Program, administered by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of B.C. This funding will support upgrades to the Baynes Drainage Pump Station and reinforce the city’s drainage management program.
The Baynes Pump Station is a critical piece of infrastructure that supports the city’s drainage system, and upgrades include new automated trash screens that will help remove debris – branches and other materials – from the water intake area and move it to a designated collection area.
These upgrades will help the station run more efficiently, improve how debris is collected and managed, and reduce the need for manual maintenance.
Completion of the work is expected at the end of October 2026.
A pedestrian detour will be in place on the Trans Canada Trail. Cyclists are asked to use caution, watch for pedestrians and dismount when traveling near the fenced work area.
The funding comes via the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
