Madeline Merlo is up for one of the biggest awards handed out by the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA).
Merlo has been nominated for Female Artist of the Year against fellow singer/songwriters: Jess Moskaluke, Meghan Patrick, Sacha, and Tenille Townes.
“So very honored CCMA,” said Merlo online. “See y’all there!!”
The Canadian Country Music Association was formed in 1976 as the Academy of Country Music Entertainment, to ensure the growth and development of the Canadian country music industry.
CCMA Awards were fist handed out in 1982.
The awards are voted upon by the membership in a three-stage ballot process.
There are 16 artist award categories, seven musician award categories, two radio award categories, and 16 industry award categories.
Country Music Week began in 1977 as an annual event to heighten awareness and increase exposure for Canadian country music artists.
Currently Country Music Week is made up of three components: the music festival, an industry conference, and the CCMA Awards Show which is a two-hour live television event highlighting the year in country music.
This year the host city is Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and it will be taking place from Sept. 16-19, with the awards show at 7 p.m. on the final day.
