Community leader and longtime Pitt Meadows resident Cyrus Ameli has announced his candidacy for Pitt Meadows City Council in the upcoming municipal election.
He made the announcement July 21, saying he brings more than 25 years of leadership experience and a commitment to building an even stronger community for families, youth, businesses, and residents.
“Pitt Meadows is an incredible place to live, raise a family, and build a future,” said Ameli. “I believe our city can continue to grow while maintaining the small-town character that makes it unique.”
Ameli’s campaign theme is “Experience. Vision. Purpose,” because, he said, his decision to seek office is rooted in a desire to help preserve what makes Pitt Meadows special while ensuring the city is prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
“We have a lot going for us, but we are experiencing, as every city does, growing pains – especially around issues such as CPKC’s development plans in the city,” he said.
Ameli, together with his wife and young son, have called Pitt Meadows home for more than a decade.
Throughout his career, he has worked with organizations across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, leading initiatives in governance, finance, organizational transformation, strategic planning, and community engagement.
He also brings firsthand experience supporting community development and public safety as a board member of Scouts Canada, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR), as a volunteer with the RCMP Community Policing Team, and as a member of various committees and boards within the city itself, including the Pitt Meadows Airport, Economic Development Advisory Committee and Active Transportation Advisory Committee.
Ameli’s campaign will focus on strengthening community connections, supporting enhanced public safety, agricultural resilience, sustainable economic development, and ensuring that Council makes transparent, fiscally responsible decisions that reflect the priorities of residents.
“My goal is to bring thoughtful, collaborative leadership that listens to residents, supports local businesses and agriculture, strengthens public safety, and invests in the next generation,” noted Ameli.
“Strong communities are built through collaboration, trust, and shared purpose. I look forward to meeting residents across Pitt Meadows, hearing their ideas, and working together to build an even stronger future for our city,” he said.

The municipal election will be taking place on Saturday, October 17.
