The 2026 Abbotsford Airshow will be without the Odyssey DC-3 after a component issue was discovered during a routine post-flight inspection in Kelowna.
The aircraft flew around the world as part of Expo ‘86 and was in the process of being restored to make an appearance in Abbotsford 40 years later.
The 90-year-old plane returned to the Kelowna skies on July 22 for two confidence flights, but afterwards was ultimately grounded following the inspection.
“While we share the disappointment of everyone who hoped to see the aircraft at Abbotsford, we remain incredibly proud of this milestone and grateful to the team behind it,” said the KF Centre for Excellence on social media.
The Abbotsford Airshow of 1986 was a showcase for the plane in a ceremonial fly-past just ahead of the adventure that saw KF Aerospace founder Barry Lapointe and the Odyssey ’86 crew visit 55 cities and 28 different countries.
The Odyssey DC-3 has been on display at the KF Centre for Excellence in Kelowna since June 10.
The Abbotsford Airshow takes place Aug. 7-9.
