BC Highway Patrol seeking public help for fatal crash on Highway 1 in Abbotsford

The BC Highway Patrol is asking the public to come forward with any information or dash camera video of what occurred before and after a fatal collision on Highway 1 near Abbotsford on Monday (July 20).

Just before 1:45 a.m. on Monday, the Abbotsford Police Department received a report of a single-vehicle collision on westbound Highway 1 near Cole Road. A green Subaru Impreza was found on its roof and two people were discovered in the Subaru.

The driver (a man) had serious injuries and the passenger (a woman) was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Police are investigating the possibility that alcohol impairment was a factor in this collision,” stated Sgt. Michael McLaughlin of the BC Highway Patrol. “Witnesses to the collision did not initially stop, and it’s very important that those same witnesses get in contact with BC Highway Patrol.”

Police stated that they are interested in what witnesses saw between midnight and 3 a.m. in the area at or near the collision site.
