LETTER: So appreciative of care for late husband

Dear Editor,

I have recently been dealing with both Fraser Health home care and Ridge Meadows Hospital.

My husband has had Parkinson’s for the past 15 years and we were getting to the point of needing care for him.

I called Home Health on a Monday, by Thursday the occupational therapist was visiting and assessing my husband figuring out what equipment he was needing to help him keep safe.

He was assessed on the following Monday for the type of respite care and long-term care he would need.

The followups from the home health team was fantastic. I have nothing but respect for the role they play in our community.

He then had to go into hospital by ambulance at 7 p.m. one evening. By 6 a.m., he was in a bed in a ward. He was there for two weeks and was looked after so well by the nursing staff and physio teams. They are so overworked but stayed so pleasant with all of their patients.

You hear so many horror stories about our health care right now. But, my last experience with Fraser Health was exceptional.

Unfortunately, my husband passed away from a heart attack last week.

I am so glad that he was treated with so much kindness at the end of his days.
