Seniors will be getting a sneak peek at this year’s Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Country Fest, before the gates open for the weekend.
Those 55 years and older are invited to the free event where they will get to enjoy live entertainment, treats, and an accessible tour of the grounds.
Christina Shearme, executive director of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Katzie Seniors Network, noted the idea is to give seniors in the community a glimpse of the fair, “without all the hustle and bustle.”
“This event is designed to give access to older adults who may have accessibility issues, or be drained by the busy crowds when the fair is open,” she explained.
There will be accessible parking, where guests will be picked up by golf cart and delivered to the picnic pavilion, where they will get to enjoy the live entertainment.
Shearme said they are just finalizing the performers, but she is planning to have a group of line dancers perform where people will be invited to join at the end of the show.
There will also be tours of the barns holding the 4H animals which guests can either walk to or grab a ride with a volunteer in a golf cart.
The Seniors Network has partnered again with the Maple Ridge Lions Club who will be providing a concession at a reasonable rate for all who attend.
But, there will still be free treats for everyone.
Shearme is hoping people will take the opportunity to have a true sneak peek into the fun and energy of the fair.
The event takes place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at the Albion Fairgrounds, 23588 Jim Robson Way, Maple Ridge.
