A grass fire that sparked off the Rail Trail in Kelowna on July 3 is considered suspicious and under investigation.
The Kelowna Fire Department responded to multiple calls at 2:30 p.m. for a fast spreading fire near Spall Road and Clement Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews found a rank two grass fire estimated to be 100 feet by 200 feet and spreading toward the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
The fire was quickly contained and crews remained on scene to put up a fire guard and extinguish hot spots.

Due to the blaze, the right northbound lane on Spall Road was closed to accomodate emergency vehicles.
