Anti-gang police seize $1.5M in cash, drugs in Lower Mainland bust

B.C.’s anti-gang police says an investigation led by the North District Team has led to $1.5 million in cash, drugs and firearms seized in the Lower Mainland.

The investigation began in December 2024 and continued through to early 2026, according to a news release Wednesday (June 24) from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit. During the investigation, police seized multiple kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine in what is alleged to be an inter-provincial drug-trafficking scheme.

Four people have been arrested, but charges have yet to be forwarded to the Crown.

Staff Sgt. Jon MacIntyre, team leader for the North District Team, said the significant seizure of drugs, cash, and firearms in this investigation represents a meaningful disruption in organized crime groups.

“The individuals and organized crime groups responsible for trafficking illicit drugs continue to fuel addiction, exploit vulnerable people, and contribute to violence in our communities. Identifying, targeting, disrupting, and holding these offenders accountable remains a top priority for CFSEU-BC and our policing partners.”

Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha, media relations officer with CFSEU-BC, said that while the searches happened in the Lower Mainland, the investigation began in the North and some of the items that were seized were also going into Northern B.C.

She added through the investigation its also believed the trafficking was going into Alberta as well.

In late April 2026, investigators identified five location to execute search warrants.

Then on May 3, a commercial truck driver was arrested at the Sunshine Hills Shopping Centre in Delta, in what police say was allegedly a drug-related exchange involving a person from Vancouver. The truck driver was arrested and police seized 10 one-kilogram bricks of cocaine along with approximately $500,000 in vacuum-sealed cash.

Police say that arrest “triggered the execution of multiple search warrants” at locations throughout the Lower Mainland, including homes in Vancouver and Surrey, a luxury condominium in downtown Vancouver and a Vancouver self-storage facility.

In total, police seized: approximately $1.5 million in bundled cash; approximately 26 kilograms of cocaine; approximately seven kilograms of methamphetamine; five vehicles, including three equipped with “sophisticated” after-market hidden compartments; a commercial tractor trailer used in the Delta offence; approximately 250 kilograms of cocaine cutting agents, including phenacetin and benzocaine; approximately 12 long guns and four handguns, including one fitted with a prohibited suppressor; and an estimated 25o empty kilogram cocaine wrappers.

Sangha said the the amount of drugs and guns that were seized was significant, adding that the vehicles outfitted with after-market compartments “shows the sophistication of this organization” and its ability to allegedly transport drugs.

“So you can imagine … How many trips that truck driver has made? Brought in drugs, cash and weapons into B.C.?”

Sangha said the investigation is now over and now the team is working to have all the drugs seized tested in labs. After that, it’s likely charges will be recommended.
