Maple Ridge’s annual Father’s Day fish release moving to Allco Park on Sunday

The Alouette River Management Society’s annual Father’s Day Fish release is moving to Allco Park this year.

The event is happening on Sunday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and with parking lot closures at Maple Ridge Park, it will be moved to the park at 12355 Alouette Road, near ARMS own Rivers Heritage Centre and the Allco Fish Hatchery.

Attendees will have the opportunity to help release approximately 5,000 chinook salmon fry into the South Alouette River, giving children and families a hands-on connection to local salmon conservation and watershed stewardship. Adding to the fun, SeaStar Face Painting will be onsite offering their services for children.

“This event is always a special opportunity for families to connect with salmon conservation in a meaningful and memorable way,” said ARMS spokesperson Sophie Sparrow. “We are excited to continue the tradition this year in such a beautiful setting alongside the hatchery.”

The event is open to all ages and welcomes everyone to come together and celebrate nature, community, and conservation. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the many picnic tables located throughout the park, as well as explore the surrounding trails on a peaceful nature walk.

It’s is free to attend, and no prior experience is necessary.
