A motorcycle rider was airlifted to hospital on Saturday (June 13) after a serious collision on Whatcom Road in Abbotsford.
According to social media posts from the Abbotsford Police Department, an officer was also injured while managing the scene when a vehicle failed to stop at the road closure and drove through the collision area.
Emergency crews responded to the collision between a motorcycle and SUV at the Whatcom Road and South Parallel Road intersection at approximately 2:06 p.m.
Police said the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries, while the SUV occupants “were shaken but were not injured.”
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and Abbotsford police are investigating.
The crash led to the closure of the intersection and portions of Whatcom Road and South Parallel Road.
