Shooting in Kelowna believed to be ‘targeted incident related to extortion’: RCMP

Shots fired near a Kelowna home is believed to be related to a targeted attempt related to extortion, according to the Kelowna RCMP.

The shooting took place in the early hours of Tuesday, June 9 in the 2500 block of Gale Road.

“Based on initial information, this is believed to be a targeted incident related to extortion,” said Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Steven Lang. “The Kelowna RCMP is actively liaising with partner agencies to determine if there is any nexus to other ongoing investigations.

Since the shooting took place, officers have been stationed at the home at all times.

Lang confirmed on Tuesday that no one was injured in the incident.
