Firearms seized in Northern B.C. as part of Ontario murder investigation

The Terrace area continues to play a role in the ongoing investigation into the April 12, 2026 murder of a man in Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigators had at first identified the Terrace area as one place where one of the two men wanted for the second degree murder of Ontario’s Christo Allison Richards could be found.

Now, OPP indicated in a June 10 press release that officers from the OPP and RCMP have seized two firearms following a search of a rural Terrace property.

“Lyna Du, 32 years old of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, contrary to section 240 of the Criminal Code (CC). The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Friday June 12, 2026,” the release continued.

This is the second arrest made in connection with the death of Richards. In May, a person was charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

But still not found are Joseph Madore, 34, and Brayton Kennedy, 28, both from Ottawa. Both are charged with second degree murder early on in the investigation.

It is Madore who investigators believed from early on in the investigation could be in B.C. and listed the Terrace area as one of the potential locations because of his known associations here. The other locations were Richmond, Abbotsford and Chilliwack.

“Investigators believe that Madore may be camping in a rural area of British Columbia. Kennedy’s whereabouts are unknown. If seen, do not approach. Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately,” the OPP release stated.

Madore is described as six-foot-two and 189 pounds, with a medium build, hazel eyes, black hair and tattoos.

Kennedy is described as five-foot-11 and 260 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on his forehead above his left eyebrow.

Richards was found with life-threatening injuries on April 12, 2026 after responding to a call at Last Duel Park in Perth which is an hour south of Ottawa. He died later in hospital.
