The 117th edition of the Abbotsford Agrifair will be fuelled by some significant horsepower.
The 2026 event, set to run from July 31 to Aug. 2, features the return of the world-famous RCMP Musical Ride.
It’s the first time since 2018 that the Canadian tradition featuring police officers and their horses performing challenging equestrian skills backed by a score. Agrifair is the first British Columbia stop for the group in 2026 and will perform five times over the three days.
The theme for the 2026 fair is ‘Welcome Neigh-bours!’ – inspired by the visit from the RCMP.
“Agrifair is thrilled to include the RCMP Musical Ride in the price of admission this year,” stated fair manager Cory Cassel. “This is one of Canada’s most cherished and recognizable performances, and we know there will be tremendous excitement around the five shows taking place in the Agrifair Arena. Seating will be limited, so guests are encouraged to plan ahead.”
The first official RCMP Musical Ride occurred in 1887 and the first women incorporated into the ride happened in 1981. They typically perform in about 50 communities every year and travel to each province about once every four years. They have performed at events such as Expo 1967 and all three Olympics that have occurred in Canada.
Other notable acts in this year’s lineup include:
• An expanded 4-H show
• The largest demolition derby in Agrifair history
• A new Kids Zone
• Returning favourites consisting of: Fraser Valley Antique Farm Machinery Association exhibits, the Country Horse Classic, Pig Races, Extreme Dogs and All-Star Wrestling
“Our goal is to create experiences that families can enjoy together across generations,” Cassel said. “From exciting motorsports and live music to agriculture showcases and children’s activities, there’s something for everyone included with admission.”
Live entertainment will also take centre stage throughout the weekend. Abbotsford’s country music performer Morgan Griffiths takes over the Agrifair Red Truck stage on Sunday evening. Griffiths recently captured three BC Country Music Association Awards, including Fans’ Choice Award, Song of the Year (for the song Bourbon) and Songwriter of the Year.
Fraser Valley country rockers Appaloosa kicks off the fair on Friday night in the Motorsports Arena, while classic rockers Topaz takes the stage Saturday evening.
