The Ridge Meadows’ Hospice Society’s poignant fundraiser Hike for Hospice is coming up this Sunday, May 24 at Allco Park in Maple Ridge.
The hospice invites residents to have a picnic in the park, and take part in a 1.3 km memorial walk to honour loved ones.
There is music, a ceremonial flower petal release into the Alouette River, and memory rock decorating. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., with opening remarks at 10:15 a.m. There will also be a pizza picnic lunch.
The event is free, but the Hospice society asks that people register online at ridgemeadowshospicesociety.com, where donations can be made.
There will be mementos available by donation.
The local Hike for Hospice is part of a national community walk held across Canada to raise awareness and support for local hospice palliative care and grief support services.
