A Langley RCMP cruiser and two other cars are damaged, but no one was hurt after a crash during an attempted traffic stop early Wednesday morning.
At about 2:50 a.m., near Willowbrook Drive in the Langley Meadows neighbourhood, police noticed a suspicious vehicle, said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, the spokesperson for the local RCMP.
The officers tried to pull the car over for a traffic stop.
Instead, Sharoom said, the driver sideswiped the RCMP cruiser, then crashed into a nearby parked car.
The RCMP officer was not hurt, although the cruiser sustained a fair bit of damage.
The driver of the suspicious vehicle was arrested at the scene, then taken to Langley Memorial Hospital to be checked out as a precaution, but he was also not hurt, Sharoom said.
The incident was still under investigation. As of early Wednesday afternoon, police were trying to reach the registered owner of the suspicious vehicle to see who had legal access to it overnight.
