Driver killed after u-turn attempt on Highway 1 at Salmon Arm

A person died at the scene of a motor-vehicle collision on Highway 1 at Salmon Arm.

The incident involved two vehicles, and occurred in the 3600 block of Highway 1 at around 2:25 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19.

Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Simon Scott said the collision happened as the driver of one of the vehicles attempted a u-turn on the highway.

“The roads were dry, straight, and alcohol and speed are not believed to be a factor,” said Scott, noting the other person involved in the collision stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with police.

An air ambulance helicopter was called in but wound up not being required.
