Dear Editor,
(Open letter to Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows MLA Lisa Beare)
I thought I would forward this news item regarding DRIPA. The inaction of your government and David Eby are causing significant concerns and future problems in not only B.C., but potentially all of Canada.
The NDP government track record under David Eby:
1. Deferred property tax – changing rules on low-income retirees is quite unethical. It has the potential to destroy an inheritance for their heirs. It also looks like it is no better than a CHIP mortgag,e which in the long-term causes financial issues. I feel sorry for our neighbours and friends who trusted your government and did not see this coming.
2. DRIPA – caused serious problems for private owners in Richmond. American natives, Alaska, now want to weigh in on property in Canada. Ranchers have significant and reasonable concerns. What is your response? To defer it until fall and probably hope you can bury it in future news.
3. Canceling four construction projects throughout the province and causing 17,000 people to be laid off when there are very few jobs to replace them. Seems to me this news was given on a Friday because people don’t matter to this government. MLAs have their six-figure salaries, and gold pension while regular workers could easily be living paycheque to paycheque. So much for the NDP working on behalf of the average Canadian!
4. Squandered John Horgan’s surplus with no contingency fund given all the difficulties with tariffs. Perhaps you were not included in the federal budget because any fiscally responsible manager would not give a known spendthrift with a huge deficit more taxpayer dollars to waste.
5. Wab Kinew, Manitoba Premier, set up legislation to protect our kids against social media abuse. What does this premier do? He thinks it all should be handled by the federal government. He is not a leader nor is he a team player.
6. NDP increasing income taxes and expanding the PST at a time when voters are experiencing financial difficulty with more trouble on the horizon.
Placing David Eby as leader of the party without a proper vote was inappropriate and a huge mistake.
This government is not fit to run B.C. nor anything else for that matter. The next election cannot come soon enough.
Marie Robson, Maple Ridge
