Suspects identified in alleged assault of child at Surrey Vaisakhi amusement rides

Police have identified the two men who allegedly assaulted an eight-year-old boy inside a haunted house during the Khalsa Day festivities in Surrey.

Surrey Police responded to an assault call in the parking lot of the gurdwara in the 12800-block of 85 Avenue around 5 p.m. on April 19.

The alleged assault occurred inside a “haunted house amusement called Kreepy Kastle,” police said in a news release Friday (May 1). The house was one of several rides and attractions set up outside of Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar Sahib for 10 days for Vaisakhi.

The boy was able to escape and fled to his family and told them of the assault.

“The child suffered injuries to his neck, which required treatment at a hospital,” police said in a May 1 news release. “The owner/operator of the carnival is cooperating, and staff are not believed to be involved in the alleged assaults.”
