A suspicious grass fire ignited in Dilworth Park on Wednesday at about 7:30 p.m., in what is considered a well-frequented area.
According to Platoon Captain Scott Clarke, firefighters were mopping up after an early blaze that heavily damaged a home on Elwyn Road when reports began to come in of a grass fire near Chilcotin Crescent.
Those first on scene stated the grass fire to be approximately 50 feet by 50 feet and at a rank 1, or a smouldering ground fire.
“Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze using hose lines from a bush truck,” said Clarke.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The fire is currently under investigation.
This is the second reported grassfire in the Central Okanagan on Wednesday.
A blaze sparked on Camp Road in Lake Country just before 4 p.m., near Gray Monk Estate Winery and the Oceaola Fish and Game Club. Personnel from all three Lake Country Fire stations responded and were able to extinguish the flames.
